Eleven Players Record a Reception at No. 17 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - Eleven players had at least one catch as the McDaniel College football team fell to No. 17 Salisbury on the road at Sea Gull Stadium Saturday, 31-0.

The Green Terror (1-1) had two quarterbacks completed 20 passes for 160 yards. Junior Mick Johnston completed 16 passes for 125 yards while junior Caleb Wray completed five for 39 yards.

After missing a 24-yard field goal attempt on their opening drive, the Sea Gulls scoring on its next three possessions to take a 21-0 halftime lead, beginning with a 49-yard touchdown pass with 5:23 remaining in the first quarter.

Salisbury added two second-quarter scores under two minutes apart, the last of which came on a 27-yard touchdown pass.

After scoring on three of their first four drive, the Sea Gulls (1-0) was limited to 74 yards on its next four drives as the McDaniel defense forced three punts.

Junior Taevon LeGrande led the defense with nine total tackles, including two for loss and a sack as the Green Terror had four sacks for the second-straight week. LeGrande leads the team with 21 tackles, four for loss, and two sacks through the first two games.

Junior Bryce Allen had eight tackles, two for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.

Offensively, sophomore Cordae James had 16 carries for 37 yards along with three receptions for 18 yards. Sophomore Jack Penzone also had three catches for 18 yards. Sophomore Michael Brown Jr led the team with 33 receiving yards, including a 26-yard reception on third-and-10 on the opening drive of the third quarter.

McDaniel looks to bounce back next Saturday, September 19 as it travels to Huntingdon, Pa. to face Juniata at Knox Stadium. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
