GREENWOOD, Ind. - The McDaniel College football team had four players named to the Academic All-District® Football Team selected by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Seniors Carter Bucci, Tony Miller, and Logan Marsh as well as sophomore Connor Wolf each earned their first career Academic All-District® honor.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
- Must have competed in at least 90 percent of team games played OR have started at least 66 percent of the total number of team games played.
Bucci is an Elementary Education major with a minor in Special Education and a 3.693 GPA. A three-year starter, he started all 30 of the team's games over the last three seasons at center and right guard. This year, he played in 59 percent of the team's offensive snaps with 360 out of 607. He was also named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
Miller is a Business Administration major with a minor in Sports Management and a 3.651 GPA. After spending his first season as a quarterback in 2023, he made the transition to wide receiver where he had 20 catches for 180 yards and one touchdown this season. He had a career-high six receptions for 41 yards at No. 18 Carnegie Mellon and a career-high 70 yards receiving versus Muhlenberg. He hauled in his first career touchdown on a nine-yard reception in a 24-7 win over Juniata.
Marsh is a Kinesiology major with a 3.515 GPA. He started all 10 games at wide receiver this season and led the team with 49 catches and two touchdowns while totaling 483 yards receiving. In three seasons with the team, he ranks 11th on the program's career receptions with list with 101 and 15th on the all-time receiving yards list with 1,068.
Wolf is a Criminal Justice major with a 3.934 GPA. He appeared in all 10 games on the defensive line and totaled 16 tackles, including two for loss and 1.5 sacks. His two sacks came on the road at No. 18 Carnegie Mellon and at Centennial Conference champion Franklin & Marshall. He had a season-high four tackles in the final game of the season versus Gettysburg.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
