Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored eight runs in the sixth inning of game one to key a doubleheader sweep of Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.

The Green Terror (21-18-1, 12-4 CC) won the opener 12-4 in six innings before completing the sweep, 4-2. McDaniel and the Fords (19-11, 9-7 CC) will meet up in the first round of the CC tournament next Friday at Gettysburg. Game times for the double-elimination tournament will be solidified on Monday afternoon.

Senior Alejandra Mata (Miramar, Fla./Cooper City) led the Green Terror with a 2-for-2 performance in game one, including her first home run in a McDaniel uniform.

Julia Blake led Haverford with three hits.

Tied at 4-all, Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) drew a walk to lead off the sixth inning. After giving way to pinch-runner Madisyn Johnson (Glen Rock, Pa./Dallastown Area), Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) drew a one-out walk to put runners at first and second.

An Alicia Wagner (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch) single plated Johnson with the go-ahead run.

Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) followed with a single to center, scoring pinch-runner Kristina Shank (Mardela Springs, Md./Mardela) for a 6-4 lead.

A Mata walk with two outs loaded the bases. Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) and Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) made it three straight walks to make it an 8-4 game.

After a passed ball scored Mata, Hishon doubled to the gap for an 11-4 advantage. A throwing error allowed Hishon to score the game-ending run.

Nicole Swisher led off the game with a bloop single before moving to second on a sacrifice and scoring on a Blake single up the middle.

Scardina led off the bottom of the inning with a single before Lewis walked.

With two outs, a throwing error allowed both runners to score for a 2-1 lead before Wagner singled to the gap to score Coyle and stretch the lead to 3-1.

With two outs in the third, Mata blasted a 1-2 pitch over the fence in right-center for a 4-1 lead.

A Rachel Wolfson solo home run with one out in the fourth drew the visitors back to within 4-2.

Alex Craig singled to lead off the fifth before a Swisher infield hit put runners at first and second. After a sacrifice and hit batter loaded the bases, Emma Souter walked to force in Crag and Marybeth Stone single through the right side to tie the game.

Wagner and Mata had two hits each in game one.

Tied at 2-all in game two, Coyle drew a walk to lead off the sixth inning. After Johnson came in as a pinch runner, Deichman doubled to left-center with one out for a 3-2 edge.

A Michaela Persinger (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) single to right-center scored Deichman after the slid around the tag at home plate for a 4-3 lead.

Fiona Johnson (Derwood, Md./Magruder) pitched a 1-2-3 top of the seventh for her second save of the year. Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) struck out three in the first six innings for the win.

A Lewis one-out single and Tori Wilkins (Lutz, Fla./Land O'Lakes) two-out home run staked McDaniel to a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Ashley Sisto reached on an infield single before Blake roped a two-out single up the middle to cut the deficit in half.

A Souter single and misplayed ball allowed Blake to score the tying run.

Deichman had two hits to lead McDaniel in game two.
