Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – McDaniel split a pair of games against New Jersey Athletic Conference opponents at the Sunkissed Classic in non-conference softball action on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (5-7) defeated College of New Jersey 16-8 in six innings behind a 12-run sixth inning before falling 8-4 to Rowan in game two.
Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) led McDaniel with five hits, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Trailing 8-4 against the Lions (8-3), the Green Terror sent 17 batters to the plate in the sixth innings and scored 12 runs in the frame.
Michaela Persinger (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning before Haley Michael (Oldsmar, Fla./East Lake) dropped a single into left field.
After the first pitching change, doubles from Scardina and Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) drew McDaniel within 8-7.
After TCNJ elected to issue an intentional walk to Tori Wilkins (Lutz, Fla./Land O'Lakes), Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) poked a single into left to load the bases and force a second pitching change.
Four straight walks gave the Green Terror an 11-8 lead before a third pitching change an RBI groundout from Michael pushed the lead to four.
A Scardina sacrifice fly to shallow left and Hishon single stretched the lead to 14-8.
After another walk to Wilkins, Coyle singled up the middle and Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) drove a double to the gap for a 16-8 lead.
After a leadoff double in the bottom of the frame, Valerie Lamb (Miami Gardens, Fla./Miramar) got a popup and Michael turned a line drive up the middle into a double play to end the game.
Scardina and Hishon led off the game with singles before Wilkins blasted a three-run home run to left field for a 3-0 lead.
A Lauren Conroy three-run home run keyed a five-run bottom of the first.
A Michael one-out walk and back-to-back singles from Scardina and Hishon closed the deficit to 5-4 before the Lions plated three runs over the next two innings to open up a four-run lead.
Hishon joined Scardina with four hits and three RBIs in the game while Coyle had a pair of knocks. Lamb pitched five innings of relief to pick up the win.
In the nightcap, the Profs (11-3) rallied with four runs in the fourth and seventh innings to take an 8-4 win.
After a Cassandra Gerard single and fielding error, Sonia Sharma poked a three-run home run just inside the left-field foul pole to make it a 4-3 game.
A Kristina Mueller single, walk and dropped line drive tied the game.
Gerard led off the seventh with a double to left before a popped up bunt accounted for the first out. After a dropped fly ball, Jesse DeMomenico dropped a pinch-hit single into right to give her team the lead.

DeDomenico pitched 6 2/3 innings in relief, striking out nine for the win.
