OWINGS MILLS, Md. – McDaniel scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take game one and earn a split with Stevenson in non-conference softball action on Wednesday.

The Green Terror (22-13-1) captured an 8-5 win in the opener before the Mustangs (9-21) responded with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.

Megan Coyle (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) led McDaniel with three hits in game one – part of a 15-hit attack.

Erin Stephey had five hits to lead Stevenson, including a 3-for-3 game two.

Tied at 4-all, Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) was placed on second to start the eighth. After Miller stole third, Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) reached safe on a bunt single to plate Miller for a 5-4 edge.

Coyle followed with a double down the line before a one-out Haley Michael (Oldsmar, Fla./East Lake) singeld through the left side to score Lewis.

A two-out Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) single up the middle stretched the lead to 8-4.

The Mustangs got on back on a groundout and error to set the final margin in the bottom of the inning.

A Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) single and Miller double staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

After a stolen base and wild pitch made it a 2-0 game, Coyle and Yealy recorded back-to-back doubles and Michael had an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.

A two-out, two-run Naomi Fields double made it a 3-2 game in the bottom of the inning.

A Stephey single and Jasmyn Ogletree home run gave the hosts a 4-3 edge in the third.

Miller roped a one-out single in the fifth before stealing second and scoring on a Lewis single up the middle to tie the game.

Maring, Miller, Lewis, Michael and Cricket Lowe (Big Fork, Mont./Magruder [Md.]) each had two hits in game one. Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) picked up the win in the circle, pitching five innings in relief and not allowing a hit.

In game two, Maryanna Lynch (Newark, Del./Archmere Academy) singled with one out in the top of the first before scoring on a two-out Kaitlin Yealy (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown Area) double.

Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) followed with an RBI single of her own for a 2-0 lead.

Back-to-back singles by Olgetree and Morghan Fulton coupled with a Kate Finnen RBI groundout cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Haley Lennon led off the fifth with a double before Stephey singled to tie the game. After a pair of groundouts, Olgetree singled her home from third for a 3-2 lead.

Miller drew a pinch-hit walk with one out in the top of the seventh before Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) singled to put runners at first and second.

Lewis followed with a pinch-hit single to center but Miller was thrown out at the plate on the would-be tying run and Ogletree got a groundout to preserve the win.

Kipe, Scardina and Kara Flynn (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast) each had two hits. The two hits were the first two of Flynn's career.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Hood on Thursday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3:30 p.m.
