Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – McDaniel rapped out 11 hits in the opener to key a split at the Rebel Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (4-6) opened the day with a 7-6 victory over Illinois College before dropping a 5-0 contest to No. 7 Rowan in the nightcap.
Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) led McDaniel with a 3-for-3 game one that included the game-tying RBI in the bottom of the fifth.
Against the Lady Blues (4-3), the Green Terror jumped out to a 4-0 lead before needing to rally in the late innings.
Trailing 6-4 after a six-run fourth inning, Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) drew a walk to lead off the home fifth.
After a popout, Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) tripled into the right-field corner to score Kipe.
Deichman then executed a suicide squeeze and beat out the bunt for a hit, tying the game at 6-all.
Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) doubled into the left-field corner with one out in the bottom of the sixth before Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) laced a two-out double to the right-center gap to plate Maring for the lead.
Cassie Rickrode (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) sat down Illinois in order in the top of the seventh to finish the game retiring 11 straight batters and pick up the win in relief. She recorded three strikeouts and allowed just one hit in four innings of relief.
A Deichman one-out single followed an Alicia Wagner (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch) double down the line gave McDaniel a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
A pair of singles, fielder's choice and error stretched the lead to 3-0.
Singles by Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and Deichman pushed the lead to 4-0 in the third.
Three errors led to a six-run fourth that included five unearned runs. Frankie Sikora had the big hit, delivering a two-run single up the middle.
The Profs (14-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Rosalie Hood reached on an error to lead off the frame before a walk put runners at first and second.
A Morgan Smith single scored Hood before Cassandra Gerard singled to load the bases. Back-to-back two-out walks pushed the lead to 3-0.
A pair of singles and three straight walks stretched the lead to 5-0 in the fifth.
The Green Terror returns to action in a doubleheader against College of New Jersey on Thursday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
