Miller records three hits

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – McDaniel only mustered nine hits on the day, dropping a pair of games on its opening day of the Rebel Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Sunday.

The Green Terror (3-3) fell 2-0 to Marietta to open the day before dropping a 10-2 decision to Ramapo in six innings in game two.

Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) led McDaniel with three hits, including two of the team's three hits against Ramapo.

In the opener with the Pioneers (3-2), Cierra Bloom led off the third innings with a single up the middle.

After Bloom stole second, Kaitlin Kinchock reached on an infield single deep in the hole with two outs before a miscue on the infield allowed Bloom to score the game's first run from third.

A Brianna Finck single up the middle and Klinchock double into the left-field corner made it a 2-0 game in the fifth.

The Green Terror's best threat came in the bottom of the sixth. Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) laced a one-out single to left before a Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) double to the wall in right-center put runners at second and third. Alison Kach, however, got the final two of her five strikeouts to strand the tying runs on base.

In game two against the Roadrunners (3-1), three straight singles in the bottom of the first, including a Kendra Decker single to center staked Ramapo to a 2-0 lead.

Kaitlin Yealy (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) drew a walk to lead off the top of the third before pinch-runner Kara Flynn (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast) moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on a Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) single to left.

A Nicole Hernandez single and Nicole Mahoney two-run triple stretched the lead to 3-1 in the third.

An error opened the gate for a pair of unearned runs in the fourth before Alejandra Mata (Miramar, Fla./Cooper City) walked to lead off the fifth.

She stole second with two outs before scoring on a Miller triple to make 5-2.

The Roadrunners responded with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth before a SiSi Machinski double and error ended the game with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Green Terror returns to action against No. 12 Trine and Transylvania on Monday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
