COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus won game one on a walkoff to key a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.

The Bears (10-14, 4-6 CC) took the opener 1-0 before completing the sweep, 4-3.

Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) had two hits in game to lead the Green Terror (16-12, 6-4 CC), who had its six-game winning streak snapped in the opener.

In game one, Fiona Johnson (Derwood, Md./Magruder) and Kaitlyn Willis traded zeros for six-and-a-half innings. Johnson struck out six while Willis fanned eight.

Bridget Winay drew a walk as a one-out pinch hitter in the bottom of the seventh before Callie Crouse and Samantha Garritano put together back-to-back singles for the game's lone run.

In the nightcap, Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) reached on an error to lead off the game before scoring on a Kipe one-out double to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead.

A Crouse two-out home run in the bottom of the inning tied the game before Garritano followed with a single. A wild pitch and error gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.

An Alexa DelMonte double, wild pitch and Gabrielle Manto single pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fourth.

A stolen base, wild pitch and throwing error made it a 4-1 game.

Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) singled up the middle with one out in the top of the seventh before Miller followed with a single.

A Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) RBI groundout cut the deficit to 4-2.

A walk and Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) RBI single made it a 4-3 game with runners on first and second and two outs.

Zoe Heinke recorded the strikeout, however, to earn her first save.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Sunday. The first game begins at 1 p.m.
