Box Score 2 WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – McDaniel rode the momentum of a walkoff victory in game one to a run-rule win in game two, capping its trip to The Spring Games with a sweep in softball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (8-8) defeated Keene State 2-1 in the opener before completing the sweep with a 12-1 victory over Elmhurst.
Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) led McDaniel with a 3-for-3 showing in game two, scoring a pair of runs and driving in two more.
In the opener against the Owls (5-9), Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) drove a one-out double to deep left field before Galati came into run in the bottom of the seventh.
Carly Diechman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) followed with an infield single before Roxana Aviles (Manassas, Va./Osbourne) dropped a ball into left field that was able to score Galati with the game-winning run.
A Stephanie Long leadoff double and Morgan Fallon RBI single staked Keene to a 1-0 lead.
In the third inning, Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) drove a two-out single up the middle before stealing second and scoring on a fielding error to knot the game at 1-all.
Deichman and Aviles both finished with two hits in the opener.
Against the Blue Jays (1-1), Galati dropped down a one-out bunt single before Miller and Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) followed with back-to-back singles for a 1-0 lead.
A two-out Alicia Wagner (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch) double stretched the lead to 3-0.
Back-to-back doubles by Caitlin Justice (Stuart, Fla./Jensen Beach) and Galati keyed a seven-run, 10-batter fourth inning.
Elmhurst got one run back in the bottom of the frame Mikayla Melone single and Bekah Ondracek double.
Three straight singles coupled with a Lewis sacrifice fly added two more runs in the fifth to set the final margin.
In addition to Galati's three hits, Lewis added three knocks while Miller, Wagner and Justice had two each.
McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Haverford on Saturday, Mar. 26. The first game begins at 1 p.m.
