Kipe notches three hits in split

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – McDaniel rapped out 17 hits to earn a split at the Rebel Spring Games in softball action on Sunday.

The Green Terror (2-6) opened the day with a 6-1 win over Lesley before falling 7-6 to Ramapo in nine innings.

Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led McDaniel with three hits and two RBIs in the twinbill, including a pair of doubles and a triple.

Against the Lynx (0-2), the Green Terror got on the board early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) drew a walk to lead off the frame before Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) made it back-to-back free passes.

After a double steal and throwing error allowed Maring to score, Kipe roped a double to left to plate Miller for a 2-0 lead.

Lesley cut the deficit in half in the top of the second. Jess Reynolds poked a single through the left side before taking second on a sacrifice.

A two-out single by Brianna Young plated Reynolds.

Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) rocketed a ball off the pitcher's leg with one out in the third before a throwing error on a ground ball allowed her to score and push the lead to 3-1.

Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) and Hishon had back-to-back single to start the fifth before a Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Fla./Fauquier) one-out blast to center field set the final margin.

Miller and Hishon each had two hits in the opener while Weisser went five innings in the circle with a pair of strikeouts to pick up the win. Alex Herschman (Laurel, Md./Atholton) fanned a pair in two innings of relief work.

In the nightcap against the Roadrunners (1-3), Grace Brennan was placed on second for the international tiebreaker in the bottom of the ninth before Alexandria Rigoli successfully reached on the sacrifice attempt to put runners at the corners.

An Olivia Mahon high popup on the edge of the grass on the right side fell in to plate the winning run.

Ramapo manufactured two runs with a pair of bloop hits and a successful suicide squeeze for a 2-0 lead in the first.

An Alicia Wagner (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch) two-out single to center and a Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) triple inside the right-field line that kicked into the corner to make it a 2-1 game.

Nicole Mahoney led off the third with a home run to left field to reestablish the two-run lead.

The Roadrunners tacked on an unearned run in the fourth before a Wagner double, Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) and Miller sacrifice fly in the fifth inning made ita  4-2 game.

Kipe led off the sixth with a line-drive double to right field before Hishon successfully got down a suicide squeeze bunt for a single and took second.

A Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) single and Wagner sacrifice fly to the center field fence evened the game at 4-all.

Galati led off the seventh with a single before taking second on a sacrifice.

Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) dropped a bloop hit into left field before Kipe laced a double to the gap, scoring both runners for a 6-4 lead.

Three walks, a hit batter and Mahon single evened the game in the bottom of the seventh.

Kipe, Wagner and Galati each had a pair of hits in game two.

McDaniel closes its six-game stretch at the Rebel Spring Games on Monay. The Green Terror plays Wheaton (Mass.) at 9 a.m. followed by Springfield at 11:15 a.m.
