Box Score 2 CARY, N.C. – McDaniel scored just two runs, dropping a pair of games on the final day of the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in non-conference softball action on Sunday.
Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) led the Green Terror (0-4) in the nightcap, going 2-for-3.
McDaniel dropped an 8-0, five-inning decision to Meredith to open the day on Sunday before falling 6-2 to Roanoke.
Against the Avenging Angels (5-4), doubles from Courtney Saunders and Eran Artigues keyed a two-run first inning.
Four singles and a pair of walks in the third doubled the lead.
Meredith took advantage of a two-out error and a wild pitch to tack on a pair of runs in the fourth.
A pair of singles, walk and fielding error set the final score in the home eighth.
Against the Maroons (4-1), a Katie Smith double and pair of wild pitches help key a two-run first inning.
Marleigh Hall drew a leadoff walk in the second before moving to second on a sacrifice and scoring on a Taylor Carter double.
Tayler Hishon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) drew a walk to lead off the home second before singles by Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) and Fletcher loaded the bases.
Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) was hit by a one-out pitch to draw the Green Terror within 3-1.
Roanoke added a single run in the third and two runs in the fourth to open up a 6-1 lead.
Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) and Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) led off the fifth with back-to-back singles before Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) drew a walk to load the bases.
Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) following with a single to score Maring and set the final margin.
Maring and Kipe each had two hits in game two.
The Green Terror returns to action when it opens its 12-game trip to Florida on Saturday, Mar. 12. McDaniel opens play at the Rebel Spring Games against Rhodes at 11:15 a.m. followed by a game against Skidmore at 1:30 p.m.
