Box Score CARY, N.C. – Greensboro recorded a four-run fifth inning to top McDaniel 8-4 in non-conference softball action on Saturday.
Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Green Terror (0-1) in its opener with three hits and two RBIs.
Sarah Tompkins led the Pride (3-2) with a 3-for-4 day, driving in four runs.
Trailing 4-0, Brittainy Rush singled with one out in the fourth before scoring on an Allyson Yeager triple. Thompkins followed with a double to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Kali Puckett led off the fifth with a double before a Madison Crisco single put runners at the corners.
After Crisco swiped second, Rush drew a one-out walk to load the bases.
A walk to Yeager forced in Puckett before Tompkins singled to even the game.
Nichole Wall followed with a two-run single to make it a 6-4 game.
A two-run double by Tompkins in the bottom of the sixth set the final margin.
Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) led off the game with a triple to left before Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) drew a walk to put runners at the corners.
A Kipe RBI groundout staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead.
Kipe and Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) rapped out back-to-back singles to lead off the third.
After a fielder's choice kept it first and second, a two-out error allowed Weisser to score for a 2-0 lead.
Lewis drew a one-out walk in the fourth before taking second on a passed ball and scoring on a Kipe single.
Singles from Weisser and Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) scored Kipe for the 4-0 lead.
Fiona Johnson (Derwood, Md./Magruder) struck out six in her collegiate debut.
