Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – SUNY Geneseo's Corrin Spallone tossed a no-hitter to defeat McDaniel in the final day of the Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Friday.
The Green Terror (8-6) dropped a 5-4 nine-inning game to Stevenson before closing the trip with a 2-0 loss to Geneseo.
Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) notched a pair of hits to lead McDaniel.
Trailing 4-3, the Mustangs (3-6) got the benefit of a three-base throwing error score the tying run from second base. With one out, Naomi Fields laid down another bunt to get the runner home and win the game.
A Tiffany Kahl RBI groundout staked Stevenson to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
After singles from Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) and Weisser, a fielder's choice kept it first and second with two outs.
A throwing error allowed both runners to score for a 2-1 lead.
A Kaitlyn Seger RBI triple with one out in the bottom of the fourth scored Emily Soller to knot the game at 2-all.
Fields followed with an RBI groundout for a 3-2 edge.
After a dropped liner and Weisser single, Tayler Hishon (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) dropped down a bunt single to score Lewis from third with the tying run in the sixth.
Olivia Kipe (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) doubled to the wall in left field to score Hishon in the top of the ninth.
Singles from Holly Drasser and Ashley Fillmore led off the game for the Knights (3-6) before a Courtney Budynas two-out single made it a 1-0 game.
A Sami Brown double with one out in the third coupled with a wild pitch and Kayleigh Blersch RBI groundout doubled the advantage.
Spallione struck out nine McDaniel batters along the way, including retiring the final 16 batters she faced.
The Green Terror returns to action at home in the Centennial Conference opener against Dickinson on Tuesday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
