Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – McDaniel pounded out 19 hits to open its 12-game Florida trip with a pair of wins in softball action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (4-0) topped Ramapo in its opener 7-3 before defeating No. 12 Kean 12-3 in six innings.
Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) led McDaniel's offense with five hits in the two games.
Against the Roadrunners (3-1), the Green Terror plated four runs in the fifth inning to break a 3-all deadlock.
Caitlin Justice (Stuart, Fla./Jensen Beach) led off the bottom of the fifth with a double before giving way to pinch-runner Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional).
An error on a sacrifice attempt allowed Moore to score from second before Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) beat out a bunt attempt to put runners at the corners.
Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) added a run, scoring on the throw of a groundout where the third baseman didn't check her.
Two batters later, Miller singled through the right side to plate Lewis for a 6-3 lead.
Miller then scored on a Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) single to left.
A fielding error, Danielle Saporito triple and wild pitched staked Ramapo to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Lewis was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the frame before taking second on a wild pitch and scoring on a Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) double to deep center.
A Tayler Hishon (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) lead off infield single in the fourth followed by a groundout and Miller single up the middle put runners at the corners.
After Miller stole second, Fletcher drove in Hishon to tie the game and a wild pitch plated Miller for a 3-2 edge.
Two walks a sacrifice, passed ball and wild pitch evened the game in the top of the fifth.
Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) went the distance in game one with nine strikeouts.
In the nightcap against the Cougars (1-1), Maring and Lewis drew back-to-back walks to open the game.
A Hishon single plated Maring before Miller drove in Lewis with a single of her own.
Carly Deichman (Easton, Pa./Freedom) singled to score both runners to stake McDaniel to a 4-0 lead.
A one-out bunt single and two throwing error pulled Kean within 4-1 after one.
Lewis drew her second of four walks in the top of the second before taking second on an illegal pitch, third on a wild pitch and scoring on a two-out error.
Fletcher drew a walk to lead off the third before Roxana Aviles (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) was hit by a pitch. A Moore sacrifice score pinch-runner Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) and a wild pitch allowed Aviles to score for a 7-1 advantage.
An Emily Sabo bunt single and stolen base before an error and bases-loaded hit-by-pitch made it a 7-2 game in the bottom of the inning.
Brooke Ennis led off the fourth with a single deep in the hole at short before a Cayleen Rizo single and Emily Sabo infield bunt single loaded the bases in the fourth.
A Courtney Yard RBI groundout closed the gap to 7-3.
With one out and Moore at second, Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) doubled into the right-field corner.
Lewis followed with a walk before Miller doubled with two outs to stretch the lead to 10-3.
Galati led off the sixth with a single before moving to third on two groundouts.
Moore followed with a single up the middle for an 11-3 advantage.
Singles from Scardina and Brittany Powers (Vienna, Va./James Madison) set the final margin.
Valerie Lamb (Miami Gardens, Fla./Miramar) pitched the first four innings for her first collegiate win in the circle.
McDaniel returns to action against Centenary (N.J.) and Skidmore on Sunday. The first game begins at 12:15 p.m.
