Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, D.C. – McDaniel recorded 21 runs in its season opener to sweep Gallaudet in non-conference softball action on Thursday.
The Green Terror (2-0) took the opener 11-2 in five innings before completing the sweep, 10-3.
Megan Liebknecht (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) led McDaniel with four hits in four at bats, including a home run in game one.
Kate Fetzer led the Bison (2-4) with a 2-for-4 performance, adding an RBI and two runs scored.
In game one, Liebknecht led off the second inning with a single before a dropped fly ball with one out put runners at second and third.
A passed ball allowed Liebknect to score with two outs before Stacie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) walked and stole second.
A Payton Lewis (Valrico, Fla./Durant) double to the gap scored both runners for a 3-0 lead.
A Liebknecht home run with one out in the fourth stretched the lead to 4-0 before a pair of singles from Emily Walters and Mia Fernandez coupled with a throwing error cut the margin to 4-1 in the bottom of the frame.
A Tayler Hishon (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) two-run home run around four Bison errors keyed a seven-run fourth inning.
Back-to-back doubles from Fetzer and Walters with one out in the bottom of the fifth set the final margin.
Lewis finished 1-for-2 with three RBIs in her debut while Hishon went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in her first collegiate game.
Tied at 1-all in game two, Liebknecht drew a walk to leadoff the second.
Lindsey Miller (Gettysburg, Pa./New Oxford) added a one-out walk before Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) beat out an infield single to load the bases.
A Maring double and Lewis RBI groundout pushed the lead to 4-1 in the top of the second.
A double from Elana Ciccarelli and a Fetzer sacrifice fly trimmed the deficit to 4-3 before a throwing error and singles from Morgan Scardina (Pasadena, Md./Seton Keough) and Ally Galati (Milford, Pa./Cornwall Central) pushed the advantage to 5-3 in the third.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) went the distance in game one, striking out nine. Jamie Weisser (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) pitched four innings in game two with two strikeouts to pick up the game two win.
McDaniel opens up its 12-game trip to Florida on Saturday. The Green Terror opens against Ramapo and Kean at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven. The first game begins at 12:15 p.m.
