INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – McDaniel learned on Monday afternoon that its season will continue with an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III women's soccer field.
The Green Terror (15-2-2) fell to eventual champions Johns Hopkins 1-0 in Saturday's Centennial Conference (CC) semifinal but earned one of 20 Pool C bids into the field of 64.
McDaniel will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., for the opening round of the tournament. The Green Terror will take on SUNY Oneonta in the second game on Saturday. Carnegie Mellon hosts Cabrini in the other game, beginning at 5 p.m. with the Green Terror's game to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The winners will meet in the second round on Sunday at 5 p.m.
Admission to the game is $6 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens and $2 for children under the age of 12.
The Red Dragons (14-3-2) defeated Buffalo State in the SUNYAC championship game 3-1 on Saturday.
The Tartans (15-1-1) won the UAA championship and earned a Pool B bid into the tournament.
The Cavaliers (11-5-3) won the automatic qualifier out of the Colonial States Athletic Conference, Gwynedd-Mercy 1-0 on Saturday.
The Green Terror is making its first NCAA tournament berth.
Junior Nicole Hill (Bowie, Md./Bowie) leads McDaniel with 11 goals and 31 points. She is second on the team with nine assists.
Senior Maggie Quinn (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding) has added eight goals, six assist and 22 points while freshman Kirsten Gibson (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) has chipped in eight goals, five assists and 21 points. Sophomore Abby Keen (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) leads the team with 10 assists.
Sophomore Sarah McDonald (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) has posted a 0.58 goals-against average and a save percentage of .848.
