McDaniel Posts Another Shutout in Win at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - First-year Hariette Ngwatung scored the game's lone goal in the 11th minute as the McDaniel College women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 road win over Washington College Wednesday on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

The Green Terror (8-2-4, 4-1-2 CC) extended their unbeaten streak to six while posting their fifth shutout during that time. The team now has 10 shutouts in 14 games this season, including three-straight in conference contests as its scoreless streak currently stands at 290 minutes.

The win was also the third-straight on the road for McDaniel, all against conference competition.

The Green Terror are currently tied for third place in the Centennial Conference standings with Dickinson as each team has totaled 14 points. However, the Devils have a slight advantage with a 4-0-2 record in conference contests compared to 4-1-2 for McDaniel.

Washington (5-7-1, 0-5 CC) held an 18-10 advantage in shots, but the visitors scored on their first opportunity of the game as Ngwatung scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Alaina Miller.

Ngwatung is second on the team in goals with four and has now scored in three of the team's last five games. Three of her four goals this season have been game-winners.

Meanwhile, Miller, the team's leading scorer with six goals and 16 points, picked up her first point in the last four games after scoring six goals and 15 points in the first 10.

Reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Sierra Ruehl, made three saves to pick up her seventh shutout of the season for the Green Terror.

With the visitors holding a 1-0 lead in the 89th minute, Danica Ross was credited with a shot from in the box that was cleared away by senior Alexis Keller-Posen for a team save to preserve the one-goal advantage.

McDaniel returns home on Saturday for its second to last home game against Haverford for Senior Day. Kickoff is at noon with pregame ceremonies slated for around 11:45 a.m. during which the team will recognize its four seniors in Keller-Posen, Peyton Viggiano, Sidda Mitchell, and Carly Brock.
