KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A pair of last at-bat victories gave McDaniel a split at the 2013 Rebel Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Thursday.

For the second time this week, the Green Terror (9-7) needed eight innings to defeat Otterbein, doing it 3-2 this time. In game two, Augsburg forged a split over the two days with two runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 3-2 win.

Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) recorded three hits in the two games, including two in the Otterbein win. Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) also had three hits, notching two in game two.

Bryn Allen led the Cardinals (5-4) with one hit and one RBI in two at bats.

Lauren Hurley paced the Auggies (7-11) with two hits and all three RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh.

In the opener against Otterbein, despite a plethora of opportunities neither team could push a run across over the first seven innings.

In the top of the eighth with Maggie Zych placed on second for the international tiebreaker, Erin Carpenter reached on a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners.

Pinch runner Elyse Brigham stole second before a Allen sacrifice fly scored Zych and moved Brigham to third.

A fielder's choice and throwing error allowed Brigham to score for a 2-0 lead.

Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) finished game one with 16 strikeouts, pushing her over the 500 mark for her career. The sophomore's 500th career K came with as the second out of the sixth inning.

In game two, Christa Blaquiere drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh before a Bri Dorale single and a fielding error on the ensuing sacrifice attempt loaded the bases.

A fielder's choice cut down Blaquiere at the plate before Armacost got a strikeout for the second out of the inning.

Hurley, however, followed with a single to score Dorale and Buckner with the game-winning runs.

Sidney led off the game with a single before taking second on a groundout and scoring on a two-out error.

An error allowed Dorale to reach to lead off the bottom of the third before she scored four batters later on a Hurley RBI single.

McDaniel responded immediately, however. Taylor Fletcher (Linden, Va./Fauquier) singled with one out in the top of the fourth before Leigh Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]) drew a walk to put runners at first and second with two outs.
