Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel rallied with three runs in the bottom of the third inning of game two to forge a doubleheader split with Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.

The Shorewomen (19-18, 11-5 CC) took game one 5-4 to turn the nightcap into a winner-take-all for the regular-season championship and tournament hosting rights. The Green Terror (23-11, 13-3 CC) took game two 3-1 to secure the No. 1 seed and will host its first CC softball tournament since 2003. The tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday with details released Monday after the pre-championship conference call.

Jordan Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) recorded three hits and two RBIs in the twinbill while Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cordozo) added three hits and an RBI. Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) threw both games, fanning 20 batters, including 11 in a two-hit game two.

Lindsey Glascock's seventh-inning home run in game one provided the difference in the opener.

After a Sally Snover drew a one-out walk in the top of the third, a wild throw on Christine Anderson's sacrifice attempt put runners at the corners.

A two-out single from Suzanne Patinella scored Snover for a 1-0 lead.

Amy Baumgardner (Hanover, Pa./South Western) led off the bottom of the frame with a double off the wall in center field before Lauren Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) slapped a one-out single over the head of the second baseman to runners at the corners.

Beans followed with a rolling ball back up the middle that got to the wall for a bases-clearing double and a 2-1 lead.

A two-out double from Liebowitz scored Beans from second for the 3-1 advantage.

From there, Brehm settled in to allow just three baserunners over the final four innings.

In the opener, Glascock broke a 4-all deadlock, cranking the ninth pitch of her leadoff at bat over the left-field fence and Kristin Cooper worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning.

Cooper led off the visitor fifth with a home run to straightaway center field before Brittany Walter drove a one-out single up the middle.

Shaelan Nottingham followed with an infield single before a wild pitch and Glascock four-pitch walk loaded the bases with one out.

Anderson worked an eight-pitch walk to force in Walter before Patinella drew a two-out walk to make it 3-0.

An error allowed Glascock to score and stretch the lead to 4-0.

Beans led off the bottom of the sixth with a single up the middle before Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) drew a walk and gave way to pinch-runner Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional).

A Liebowitz single to center loaded the bases for Tracy Davis (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg), who singled up the middle under a diving second baseman to score Beans and Moore.

After Liebowitz gave way to pinch runner Laura Mertz (Gillette, N.J./Watchung Hills) at second, Sam Stitely (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) worked an 11-pitch walk to reload the bases.

Beth Ann Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) drew an eight-pitch walk to force in Mertz before a two-out dropped popup allowed Davis to score and tie the game at 4-all.

Davis had two hits and two RBIs in the opener.

The Green Terror returns to action at York (Pa.) on Wednesday. The first game begins at 3 p.m.
