Beans raps out two hits, three RBIs

Box Score

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – McDaniel scored six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to overcome a 5-0 deficit and defeat Wheaton (Mass.) 7-5 at the Rebel Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Monday.

Jordan Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) recorded two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Green Terror (3-2), who dropped a 4-1, eight-inning affair to Montclair in the game's first day.

Renee Laflam led the Lyons (0-3) with a 2-for-4 day, adding three RBIs.

Megan Moore (Bridgeton, N.J./Cumberland Regional) reached on an error to lead off the top of the fourth inning before Beans and Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg, Md./Middleotwn) followed with singles to load the bases before a fielder's choice allowed Moore to score.

After a two-out Lindsey Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]) walk loaded the bases, Beth Ann Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) followed with a single to right to score Beans and Jackie Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cordozo) to cut the deficit to 5-3 after four.

Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led off the visitor fifth with a single before moving to second on a Moore sacrifice.

Beans followed with a two-run home run to left field to knot the game at 5-all.

Warrenfeltz reached on a single before Liebowitz hit into a fielder's choice to replace her at first. A wild pitch moved her up 60 feed before she scored on a Stephanie Maring (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) single for a 6-5 lead.

A pair of errors and a Beans bases-loaded RBI ground ball stretched the lead to 7-5, scoring Leigh Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]).

Amanda Drury led off the bottom of the second with a single – the first in a series of four straight base knocks.

Vanessa Campbell, Valerie Tratner and Noelle Christmas all followed with singles to stake Wheaton to a 1-0 lead.

After a strikeout, Jenna Rocha singled to score Campbell for a 2-0 lead.

With two outs, Laflam cleared the bases with a double for a 5-0 advantage.

Warrenfeltz picked up the win in the circle, striking out four in 4 2/3 innings while Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) pitched the final 2 1/3 to earn the save, striking out five of the eight batters she faced.

The Green Terror returns to action against Illinois Wesleyan and Defiance on Wednesday. The first game begins at 9 a.m.
