Box Score

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Neither team could crack the scoreboard through seven innings but Montclair used a bases-loaded double for a 4-1 eight-inning victory over McDaniel at the Rebel Spring Games in non-conference softball action on Monday.

Freshman Caroline Brehm (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) continued to improve on her program record for strikeouts, fanning 16 batters for the Green Terror (2-2) and now 48 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings this season.

Alisha Cumberton had the big, and only, hit for the Red Hawks (1-0), rapping the bases-clearing double in the eighth.

The teams combined for two hits through the first seven – both by McDaniel, forcing the need for the international tiebreaker rule in the eighth inning.

Jamie Paulino was placed on second base to start the top of the inning before moving to second on an Alex Hill sacrifice.

Heather Bergman and Stephanie Szeligarf walked around a groundout to load the bases with two outs.

Shannon Mozek drew a third walk to force in Paulino before Cumberton doubled for the only Montclair hit of the game.

In the bottom of the inning, pinch-runner Lauren Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) was placed on second before advancing to third on a groundout and scoring on a Tracy Davis (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) sacrifice fly.

However, Hill notched her 10th strikeout of the game to get her team the win.
