Box Score Framingham scores three in first and seventh to down McDaniel
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Kendra Fisher went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead Framingham State to a 6-5 victory over McDaniel in non-conference softball action at the Rebel Spring Games on Tuesday.
Beth Ann Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) led the Green Terror (3-4) with a 3-for-3 afternoon, adding an RBI.
Alyssa Shea and Adriana Faria added two hits apiece for the Rams (1-4), who scored three runs in the first and three runs in the seventh inning for the victory.
Trailing 4-3 entering the top of the seventh, Katie Donovan drew a leadoff walk before moving to second on a sacrifice.
A Taylor Ezold single down the left-field line put runners at the corners with one out for Fisher, who singled home Donovan to even the game at 4.
After a strikeout, Fisher stole second before Andrea DiTerlizzi singled down the right-field line to plate Ezold and Fisher for the 6-3 advantage.
With one out in the bottom of the inning, Megan Elfert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) doubled before advancing to third on a groundout.
A two-out error allowed Elfert to score, closing the deficit to 6-5, but Faria recorded her fifth strikeout in three innings of relief to secure the win.
Ezold drew a walk to lead off the game before a throw error put runners at the corners.
A Christy Ulak home run one batter later staked Framingham to an early 3-0 lead.
Singles from Jordan Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) and Rachel Sidney (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) coupled with an Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) RBI fielder's choice in the bottom of the inning drew McDaniel within 3-1.
Warrenfeltz led off the fourth with a single before giving way to pinch-runner Jasmine McCormick (Antioch, Calif./Holy Name).
After McCormick stole second, Elfert drew a walk and Jaclyn Liebowitz (Bellerose, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cordozo) laid down a sacrifice bunt to put the runners at second and third with one out.
A Lindsey Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]) walk loaded the bases before a wild pitch allowed McCormick to score and moved Elfert and Blohm each up a base.
A Tracy Davis (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) sacrifice fly plated Elfert to even the game at 3-all.
With two outs in the sixth, three straight singles from Davis, Lauren Wildasin (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Fusco gave the Green Terror a 4-3 lead.
Ashley Meister (Vienna, Va./James Madison) struck out eight batters for McDaniel.
The Green Terror returns to action against Wheaton (Mass.). Game time is 3 p.m.
