McDaniel splits with Stevenson

Green Terror registers shutout in game one before falling 7-6 in nightcap

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lindsey Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]) went a combined 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead McDaniel in a doubleheader split with Stevenson in non-conference softball action on Friday.

The Green Terror (11-9) took the opener 3-0 behind a three-hit shutout from Ashley Meister (Vienna, Va./James Madison) before the Mustangs (12-8) scored in the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 win.

A two-out error in the first allowed Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg, Md./Middletown) to score for a 1-0 lead.

After Meister stranded runners at third in three straight innings, Blohm led off the sixth with a single.

Pinch-runner Leigh Blohm (Bel Air, Md./Toms River North [N.J.]) stole second before scoring on a Lauren Wildasin (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) single.

A sacrifice moved Wildasin to third before she scored on a Beth Ann Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) RBI groundout to set the final margin.

In game two, a Lisa Bilski walk-off home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh broke a 6-all deadlock to give Stevenson the split.

Four singles, an error and sacrifice fly gave McDaniel a 3-0 lead in the second inning before an error and four singles allowed the Mustangs to even the game in the bottom of the frame.

The Green Terror took a 5-3 lead in the fourth before Lindsey Blohm stretched the lead to 6-3 win the fifth with an RBI single that plated Warrenfeltz.

An RBI single from Jessica Bandzwolek and two-run knock from Sara DiMeglio in the home fifth evened the game.

Warrenfeltz added four hits for McDaniel.

The Green Terror returns to action in a doubleheader against Haverford at home on Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
