Green Terror hits .342 as a team at Rebel Spring Games
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Erinne Warrenfeltz (Smithsburg,
Md./Middletown) hit .500 in 10 games and went 2-1 in the
pitching circle to lead McDaniel to a 6-4 trip to the Rebel Spring
Games in non-conference softball action last week.
The Green Terror (7-7) opened the week with a pair of losses but
won six of its final eight games to improve to .500 on the young
season.
The trip opened against Rowan where a two-out error in the top
of the seventh led to an unearned run and 3-2 victory for the
Profs.
The second game on Sunday was against No. 19 William Paterson.
Seven Green Terror errors, including four in the first two innings
gave the Pioneers an early 6-0 lead en route to a 13-4 victory.
Jordan Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) and
Lauren Wildasin (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) each went
2-for-3 with two runs scored in the loss.
The Green Terror broke out the bats on Monday, exploding for 30
runs in a pair of wins. McDaniel set a program record for runs
scored in the day's opener against Utica with an 18-5 win.
Megan Elfert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) tied
the record with a 5-for-5 showing.
A four-run third inning keyed by a two-run single from
Lauren Fusco (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti)
staked the Green Terror to a 5-2 lead. McDaniel added four more in
the fourth and three in the fifth to extend the lead 12-4 before
plating six in the seventh that included a two-run home run from
Warrenfeltz.
A three-run double from Wildasin in the bottom of the sixth
capped a four-run frame to finish off a 12-4 victory over
Centenary.
A three-run Warrenfeltz home run in the top of the first inning
jumpstarted a 7-1 win over Trinity Christian on Wednesday.
A two-run home run from Allison Lizzi in the
top of the sixth turned Kean's 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory
in Wednesday's nightcap.
Warrenfeltz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs to
key an 8-3 win over Skidmore on Thursday. She had a two-run double
as part of a five-run fifth inning.
Four walks and an error led to two unearned runs in the bottom
of the first to stake the Green Terror to a 2-0 lead en route to a
5-2 win over Montclair.
Ann Schoff keyed a 3-0 Nazareth win on Friday
with a two-run home run in the fourth.
Hope Battista (Crofton, Md./South River) rapped
out one of three doubles in the bottom of the first to plate
Wawrrenfeltz and key a three-run frame, leading McDaniel to a 5-3
win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the final game of
the trip.
Battista finished with 14 hits, including three doubles while
Samantha Staub (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) added 15
hits with six doubles and seven RBIs. Battista added eight RBIs.
Ashley Meister (Vienna, Va./James Madison) went
3-1 on the trip with a 1.38 ERA and six strikeouts in 30 1/3
innings.
McDaniel returns to action in a doubleheader at Gallaudet on
Thursday. The first game begins at 3 p.m.
