GREENSBORO, N.C. - This week, McDaniel College baseball graduate student
Shane Daly was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Gold Glove and NCAA Division III Region V All-Defensive teams.
The ABCA Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Div. I, II & III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, II & III, Pacific Association Division, and high school.
The ABCA Division III Region All-Defensive teams are selected in all 10 regions. The teams are voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA Division III All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.
Daly was named to the ABCA All-America Third Team and was a first-team all-region selection by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. He was also selected as the 2026 Centennial Conference Player of the Year and named to the All-Centennial Conference First Team.
A four-time all-region and three-time all-conference selection, Daly was second on the team and eighth in the Centennial Conference with a .394 batting average, while ranking second in the league with 70 runs and fourth with 69 hits, the second-most in a single season in program history. He also finished second in the conference with 18 doubles and 29 stolen bases.
Daly did not commit an error in 151 chances in centerfield this season while totaling 142 putouts and nine assists. He also assisted in two double plays.
Daly was one of two Gold Glove winners for the Green Terror this season as sophomore
Thomas Mezzullo earned the Centennial Conference Gold Glove of the Year.
