Thomas Mezzullo of the McDaniel College baseball team each earned All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Thursday.
The selections are the first from the ABCA for the program since 1985, when Jeff Weyer earned second team honors. It marks the first time in program history the team has had multiple players selected to the All-American team in the same season.
Daly earned a spot on the third team as the Centennial Conference Player of the Year. He was a first-team All-Region selection by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com, his third and fourth career all-region selections. Daly was second on the team and eighth in the Centennial Conference with a .394 batting average, while ranking second in the league with 70 runs and fourth with 69 hits, the second-most in a single season in program history. He also broke the program records for career stolen bases and single season home runs this year.
Mezzullo was selected to the fourth team after being named to the All-Region first team by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. He was an All-Centennial Conference first team selection this season and won the conference's Gold Glove of the Year award. Mezzullo led the team and ranks second in the conference with a .433 batting average. He set a new program record and leads the conference with 71 hits while also rankling third in the league with 120 assists and posting a .954 fielding percentage at shortstop.
