WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College baseball team had three players earn all-region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com on Tuesday.
Graduate student
Shane Daly, sophomore
Thomas Mezzullo, and senior
Ben Davis were each honored by both organizations. Daly and Mezzullo were named to the first team by both while Davis earned second team honors from D3basebal.com and third team honors from the ABCA.
The Green Terror have had nine players earn D3baseball.com all-region honors in the last six seasons and six receive ABCA all-region honors in the last five.
Daly earned his third and fourth career all-region selections. He received second team accolades from D3baseball.com and third team honors from the ABCA in 2022. The Centennial Conference Player of the Year, he earned his third all-conference selection by being named to the first team.
Daly was second on the team and eighth in the Centennial Conference with a .394 batting average, while ranking second in the league with 70 runs and fourth with 69 hits, the second-most in a single season in program history. He also leads the conference with 18 doubles and ranks second with 29 stolen bases.
Mezzullo earns his first all-region honors after earning his first all-conference selection. He was named the Centennial Conference Gold Glove of the Year and received first team accolades. He led the team and ranks second in the conference with a .433 batting average.
Mezzullo set a new program record and leads the conference with 71 hits while also rankling third in the league with 120 assists and posting a .954 fielding percentage at shortstop.
Davis received all-region honors for the second-straight season after earning second team honors from the ABCA and third team accolades from D3baseball.com a year ago. A four-time all-conference selection, he ranked third on the team and ninth in the conference with a .393 batting average.
Davis is also fourth in the league in RBIs (64), sixth in hits (66), fourth in doubles (15), and 11th in runs scored (52). He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in home runs with 21.
