NEW YORK, N.Y. - Former women's lacrosse player, Kaylen Buschhorn '22, was recently honored by Front Office Sports (FOS) with its Rising 25 Award celebrating the brightest young stars in the business of sports.
FOS Honors showcases the individuals and organizations reshaping the business of sports. Inclusive of the Rising 25 and Most Innovative awards, FOS Honors recognizes the rising professionals forging their path in the industry, alongside the teams, leagues, and businesses driving meaningful change for fans, athletes, and the sports world at large.
The Rising 25 Award recipients are selected by a rigorous judging process weighing the size and scope of work responsibilities, accomplishments over their school or professional career up to this point, leadership roles, activities outside of work, the scope of influence within their area of expertise, and specific business results driven by ideas/execution of the nominee.
Buschhorn currently works as a Social Designer II at ESPN where she is the lead designer responsible for college football, Formula 1, tennis, and the WNBA. She is a member of the 2025 ESPN Emerging Digital Leaders cohort. She began her career at ESPN as a Social Design I in August 2022 responsible for college football, women's sports, Women's History Month, tennis, and Formula 1.
The creator of the ESPN Mini Mic, Buschhorn is a two-time Sports Emmy nominee and from and founder of More Than Just Balls, a pioneering women's sports media company dedicated to amplifying the voices of female athletes breaking barriers.
Buschhorn served as a Student Associate for Creative Development at the University of Texas, contributing to various graphics projects, including the women's rowing and women's tennis national champions in 2021 and 2022. The Austin, Texas native also served as a Social Media Consultant for the first season of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse.
As an undergrad, Buschhorn served as a social media Publisher for the College Football Playoff as an undergrad, starting and managing the College Football Playoff TikTok account during the week of the national championship between Georgia and Alabama.
Buschhorn graduated summa cum laude from McDaniel in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in art with a specialization in Graphic Design and a triple minor in Sports Management, Art History, and Marketing. She was a college Scholar, member of the Dean's List each semester, received departmental honors in Art and was a member of Phi Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu sorority, serving as Vice President and Social Media Manager.
Bushhorn was a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, four-time Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, and two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
