ATLANTA, Ga. - On Tuesday, the McDaniel College women's basketball team was honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as an Academic Top 25 Team of special mention for the third consecutive year.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade-point average (GPA), inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
This is the 30th year in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls. Teams having a 3.0 combined GPA and qualifying for consideration for the top 25 in their respective divisions are also listed as special mentions.
As a team, the Green Terror posted a 3.620 cumulative GPA during the 2024-25 season with was an increase over last season's 3.437 GPA.
McDaniel had the fourth-highest GPA in the Centennial Conference this season behind Dickinson (3.728), Swarthmore (3.679), and Johns Hopkins (3.624).
There are over 430 women's basketball teams in Division III. Dickinson was ranked 22nd, Swarthmore was 36th, Johns Hopkins was 52nd, and McDaniel was 55th.
