WASHINGTON D.C. - The McDaniel College men's track & field team took five wins at the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet on Saturday.
The Green Terror placed second out of nine teams with 64 points. Division I Howard won the meet with a score of 79.
Graduate student Chett Brunner won the shot put with a mark of 15.32m (50' 3.25"), the fourth-best mark in program history. Senior Jayden Rodwell placed sixth with a mark of 11.56m (37' 11.25") while senior Jacob Graham placed seventh with a mark of 11.25m (36' 11").
Freshman Darnell Gilliam placed 11th in a mark of 9.43m (30' 11.25"), sophomore Jacob Gibson had a mark of 9.42m (30' 11") to place 12th and sophomore Jamey Travers placed 13th with a mark of 9.17m (30' 1"). Junior AJ Iglesias placed 16th and junior Luke Stimely placed 17th.
Brunner also won the discus with a mark of 43.37m (142' 3"). Graham placed fifth with a mark of 35.25m (115' 8") and Travers placed seventh with a throw of 33.46m (109' 9"). Iglesias placed 10th with a mark of 29.05m (95-4). Gillam finished 15th, Gibson 16th, and Stimely 21st.
Senior Kyle Hubbard won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.34. Sophomore Roman Arensmeyer placed second in 1:04.96 and senior Sean Irwin crossed the line fourth in 1:09.31.
Graduate student Nick Raumann won the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:00.60 while freshman Parker Foster placed second in a time of 17:38.65 and sophomore Zac Kane placed third in 18:39.10.
The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Ethan Bush, junior Jack Reiser, senior Anders Madsen, and graduate student Tyler Richardson finished first with a time of 3:30.75.
Richardson placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.17.
The 4x100-meter relay of Hubbard, senior Oral-Anthony Coleman, junior Christian Homer, and sophomore Seyi Adelaja placed second in a time of 44.48 seconds.
Coleman placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.14 seconds after posting a time of 11.05 seconds in the prelims. Adelaja had a time of 11.94 seconds to place 10th. Freshman Ben DeJesus placed 23rd.
Homer placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.01m (42' 8.25"). He placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.34m (20' 9.75").
Graham placed fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 41.20m (135' 2") and Rodwell had mark of 35.32m (115' 10") to place eighth and move into seventh in program history. Travers placed ninth with a throw of 34.12m (111' 11") to move into 10th in program history.
Iglesias placed 10th with a throw of 28.32m (92' 11") while Gibson placed 11th with a mark of 28.11m (92' 3") and Gilliam placed 15th with a throw of 23.31m (76' 6").
Coleman also placed fourth in the 200 meters in 22.77 seconds. Freshman Jaymani Chin-Marcelle placed 14th, Adelaja followed in 15th and junior Armani Moya-Moore placed 16th. DeJesus placed 24th.
Foster placed fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:28.46. Freshman Fabrizzio Verano Valderrama placed seventh in a time of 4:50.50 and junior Simon Greenberg crossed the line in 5:15.76 to place 11th.
Hubbard placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.21 seconds and Arensmeyer placed seventh in 16.92 seconds. He had a time of 16.60 seconds in the prelims.
Bush placed seventh in the 400 meters in 51.73 seconds while Reiser placed eighth in 52.10 seconds. Moya-Moore had a time of 54.16 seconds to place 12th.
Homer placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m (5' 3") and DeJesus placed 11th with a mark of 1.52 (4' 11.75").
Reiser placed ninth in the javelin with a throw of 29.52m (96' 10") and Travers took 12th with a mark of 25.93m (85' 1").
The Green Terror return to action on Friday, April 11 at the Messiah Invitational.
