LANCASTER, Pa. - McDaniel College men's basketball junior
Ryan Shaffer was named Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
It is the first career honor for Shaffer and second in the last two seasons for the Green Terror after
David Kearney earned his first career honor on Feb. 11, 2025.
Shaffer averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in two McDaniel wins last week against Penn State Berks and Delaware Valley. He also shot 76.5 percent from the floor, going 13-for-17, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
Shaffer totaled his first career double double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, both career highs, in a 71-65 win over Delaware Valley on Saturday as McDaniel rallied from an 11-point deficit. With the visitors holding a nine-point lead, the Green Terror finished the game on a 26-9 run with 11 of those points coming from Shaffer who totaled 17 of his 25 points in the second half.
McDaniel, who has started the season with four wins in their first five games for the second consecutive season, returns to action tonight when it hosts Penn State Altoona for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
