NEW ORLEANS, La. - The McDaniel College men's and women's cross country were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for academic and athletic success.
The women's team was selected as an All-Academic Team for the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. The Green Terror were honored for the eighth time since the USTFCCCA began honoring academic success in 1995-96.
The women had a 3.601 team grade-point average (GPA), their highest in the eight years they have been selected. The team's previous high was 3.525 in 2011.
On the men's side, junior
Jack Sears was selected as an All-Academic Athlete for the second year in-a-row.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
Sears had a 3.795 GPA following the Fall 2024 semester and finished 46th at the 2024 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Championship. He crossed the line with a time of 25:53.7, the fifth-best performance in program history.
