WINCHESTER, Va. - The McDaniel College men's indoor track & field team won its second-straight meet to start the season at the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational hosted by Shenandoah on Sunday.
The Green Terror claimed three wins, totaling 132 points to finish first ahead of seven teams. York (Pa.) placed second with 117 points.
The 4x1,600-meter relay team of graduate student Nick Raumann, junior Jack Sears, freshman Amadeus Davis, and junior Jack Reiser won with a time of 18:51.12, moving them to third in program history.
Junior Ethan Bush won the 400 meters with a time of 52.59 seconds to qualify for the 2025 Centennial Conference Track & Field Championships. Senior Anders Madsen crossed the line in 55.37 seconds to place seventh.
Senior Alex Brown won the triple jump with a mark of 12.87m (42' 2.5"), qualifying him for the conference championship while junior Christian Homer placed second with a mark of 12.51m (41' 0.5"). Brown also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.08m (19' 11.25") and Homer placed fourth with a mark of 5.88m (19' 3.25"), qualifying both for the conference championships.
Graduate student Chett Brunner placed second in shot put with a throw of 14.46m (47' 5.25") and junior Jayden Rodwell threw 11.91m (39' 0.75") to place sixth. Senior Jacob Graham placed eighth with a throw of 11.48m (37-7.75) and sophomore Jacob Gibson placed 10th with a throw of 10.84m (35' 6.75").
Senior Kyle Hubbard placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.60. Sophomore Roman Arensmeyer followed in third with a time of 9.79.
The 4x200 meter relay team of senior Oral-Anthony Coleman, Brown, Hubbard, and freshman Robert Wood placed second with a time of 1:35.84.
Graham placed third in the weight throw throwing 13.60m (44-7.25). Rodwell placed eighth throwing 11.77m (38-7.25). He moves to sixth in program history and both Graham and Rodwell qualified for the conference championship. Junior AJ Iglesias placed ninth throwing 11.40m (37-4.75). Gibson placed tenth throwing 10.82m (35-5.75).
Davis placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.06 to qualify for the conference championships. Senior Sean Irwin ran 2:18.17 to place eighth.
Coleman placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.18 seconds. Sophomore Seyi Adelaja placed 22nd in 7.76 seconds and Wood ran 7.83 seconds to place 25th. Freshman Jaymani Chin-Marcelle placed 26th in 7.90 seconds and freshman Chaz Freeland ran 7.94 seconds to place 27th.
Coleman also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.31 seconds and Adelaja placed 23rd in 25.67 seconds. Chin-Marcelle placed 24th in 25.69 seconds and Wood placed 26th in 25.88 seconds.
Sears placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:16.46 while Raumann placed ninth in 9:28.15. Freshman Parker Foster placed 26th and senior Joc Baldacci placed 37th.
The 4x400 meter relay of Bush, Reiser, Davis, and Madsen placed third running 3:39.00.
Raumann placed fifth in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:41.93 while Foster placed 12th in 5:00.65. Sophomore Zac Kane placing 17th and Baldacci placed 21st.
The Green Terror return to action on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Coach I Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
