Connor Neal posted two victories as the McDaniel College men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over Hood on Wednesday at the Warfield Tennis Courts.
The Green Terror (5-7) posted their second win over the Blazers this season after a 7-2 road win on Oct. 7, 2023.
Kegley and Neal began their day with a win at No. 1 doubles in a tiebreaker over Tyler James and Isaac Hatch, 8-7 (10-8).
Hood (0-11) earned their lone point at No. 2 doubles as the team of Brady Vlha and Dhane McCloud edged out an 8-4 victory over freshman
Nick Ferraro and sophomore
Sylvan Eichenlaub.
McDaniel won by forfeit at No. 3 doubles and held a 2-1 lead entering singles play.
The Green Terror increased their lead to 3-1 after a forfeit win at No. 6 singles before Neal posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hatch at No. 2 singles. Sophomore
Ryan Niederpruem sealed the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Vhla at No. 3.
Kegley posted his second win of the day with 6-3, 6-2 decision over James while sophomore
Justin Edwards did not surrender a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
Junior
Drew Ryder recorded the final point for McDaniel with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 10-3 win at No. 4 singles.
The Green Terror play their fourth match in a span of six days on Friday when they host a make-up with York (Pa.) from last Friday. Match time is at 4 p.m.
