GREENWOOD, Ind. - The McDaniel College men's tennis team had three players named to the Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team selected by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Senior
Jake Kegley, senior
Sylvan Eichenlaub, and junior
Connor Neal each earned their first career Academic All-District® honor.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
- Must be in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's days of competition.
Kegley is a Business Administration and Accounting double major with a 3.78 GPA. He played in eight of the team's nine matches at No. 1 singles and led the team in wins. He also partnered with Neal in eight matches at No. 1 doubles. A two-sport athlete, he also earned Academic All-District honors in men's soccer.
Eichenlaub is a Marketing major with a 3.84 GPA. He was the only player to appear in all nine of the team's matches, playing in one at No. 3 singles, four at No. 4 singles, and four at No. 5 singles. He also appeared in nine matches at No. 2 doubles.
Neal is a Kinesiology major with a 3.90 GPA. He appeared in eight of the team's nine matches at No. 2 singles while playing in all nine matches at No. 1 doubles, including eight with Kegley and one with senior
Justin Edwards.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Wednesday, June 3.
