WINCHESTER, Va. - McDaniel College men's track & field sophomore Jack Sears set a program record in the 3,000 meters at the South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah Saturday.
There were no team scores.
Sears finished fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:49.29, surpassing the previous record set 30 years ago by Greg Davis, a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame, with a time of 8:52.64.
Senior Nick Raumann finished eighth with a time of 9:03.12 to move into ninth in program history.
Senior Chett Brunner won the shot put for the fifth time this season with a mark of 14.90 meters.
Senior Tyren Proctor placed third in the 60-meter hurdles, running a time of 8.61. He now owns the event's top 32 performances in program history.
The Green Terror placed four athletes in the top-10 of the long jump led by junior Alex Brown who placed third with a leap of 6.38 meters. Junior Keiron Wilson placed fifth at 6.15 meters, sophomore Christian Taylor placed sixth at 5.91 meters and sophomore Christian Homer placed seventh at 5.67 meters.
Wilson also placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.79 meters. Homer placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.45 meters, Taylor came in 10th at 12.09 meters while Brown placed 11th at 11.26 meters.
Junior Oral-Anthony Coleman placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.10 seconds while sophomore Jack Reiser placed third in the 800 meters at 2:02.70. Senior John Geniti placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.83 meters.
Coleman also placed 11th in the 60-meter dash with Wilson coming in 15th and Brown placing 16th.
Junior Jacob Graham placed seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 12.65 meters.
With the indoor season concluded, McDaniel will open the outdoor season on Friday, March 29 at the Towson Spring Open hosted by Towson University.
