WINCHESTER, Va. - The McDaniel College men's indoor track & field team won the team title at the Shenandoah Holiday Kickoff Opener, along with claiming three individual wins.
The Green Terror scored 104 points to take the win, defeating 11 teams. Roanoke placed second with 94 points.
The sprint medley relay team of senior Oral-Anthony Coleman, senior Alex Brown, graduate student Tyler Richardson, and Junior Ethan Bush ran 3:40.75 to win, this is the number two time in program history.
Junior Christian Homer won the triple jump with a mark of 13.26m (43-6) to qualify for the Centennial Conference championship and move to eighth in program history.
Graduate Student Chett Brunner wins the shot put with a mark of 14.37m (47-1 ½). Junior Jayden Rodwell placed seventh with a throw of 11.75m (38-6 ½), both hitting the conference qualifying standard. Sophomore Jacob Gibson placed 18th (10.17m / 33-4 ¼). Sophomore Jamey Travers placed 22nd (9.19m / 30-1 ¾).
Richardson placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.26. Following close behind was Bush in third (2:04.53) and Senior Anders Madsen in fourth (2:04.93). All three qualified for the conference championship. Freshman Amadeus Davis placed fifth with a time of 2:06.58. Senior Sean Irwin placed 12th with a time of 2:13.34.
Brown placed second with a jump of 1.72 meters (5-7 ½) hitting the conference qualifier. Homer jumped 1.60 meters (5-2 ¾) to place fifth. Brown also took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.36m (20-10 ¼), qualifying him for conferences. Homer jumped 5.76m (18-10 ¾) to place 11th.
Junior Jack Sears took second in the 3000 meter with a time of 9:16.68. Senior Joc Baldacci placed 16th with a time of 10:45.90.
Sears placed third in the mile with a time of 4:36.33. Junior Jack Reiser placed seventh with a time of 4:52.81. Sophomore Zac Kane ran 5:16.87 to place 18th. Sophomore Fabrizzio Verano Valderrama ran 5:19.46 to place 21st. Junior Simon Greenberg placed 22nd running 5:44.92. Freshman Zack Davis followed in 23rd running 5:53.46.
Senior Kyle Hubbard placed fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.00, he ran 8.99 in the prelims. Sophomore Roman Arensmeyer ran 9.70 to place eighth, he ran 9.59 in the prelims. Both have qualified for the conference championship.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Davis, Bush, Reiser and Richardson placed fifth with a time of 3:33.76.
Coleman placed seventh in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.12, he ran 7.07 in the prelims and qualified for the conference championship. Freshman Robert Wood ran 7.69 to place 44th.
Junior AJ Iglesias placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 11.46m (37-7), he hit the conference qualifying standard. Rodwell placed ninth with a mark of 10.95m (35-11). Iglesias and Rodwell now rank sixth and ninth in program history. Gibson placed 12th (10.71m / 35-1 ½). Travers placed 16th (9.83m / 32-3).
Coleman placed tenth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.13. He qualified for the conference championship in this event. Graduate student Kyle Silver placed 29th running 24.79. Wood placed 40th running 25.98.
Graduate student Nick Raumann placed 13th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:11.77 qualifying for the conference championship.
The Green Terror return to action on Sunday, Jan. 12 when they return to Shenandoah for the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational.
