ROCHESTER, N.Y. - For the second consecutive year, McDaniel College men's track & field senior
Nick Razze finished 11th in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Razze entered the event seeded 10th with a school record time of 52.84 seconds set at the Widener Final Chance Qualfier. He finished sixth in his heat with a time of 53.13 seconds.
The top finisher in each of the three heats, plus the next five fastest times advanced to Saturday's finals. Two of the eight finalists had a season-best while four posted a personal record. The top eight times ranged from 51.73 seconds to 52.75 seconds.
Razze's heat accounted for four of the eight qualifiers, including Bethel's Joel Smith who had the second-best time at 52.39 seconds. Top-seeded Lance Jensen of SUNY Geneseo turned in the fastest time in the prelims with a mark of 51.73 seconds which bettered his previous season best of 51.90 seconds.
Razze is the first Green Terror to qualify for consecutive NCAA outdoor championships since Broderick Maybank earned three-straight All-America honors in the long jump from 2004-06.
