WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College wrestling freshman
Thomas Monn was named Freshman of the Year by D3Wrestle.com on Thursday while also earning a spot on the organization's All-Freshman Team.
Monn finished sixth at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at 149 pounds, one of just three freshmen to place in the top six and one of nine to earn All-America honors. He was the first freshman in team history to secure All-America honors, finishing the season with a 36-3 record, the fifth-most wins in a single season in school history.
The Centennial Conference champion at 149 pounds, Monn was named Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Year and Rookie of the Year, becoming the first in the history of the league to earn both Wrestler and Rookie of the Year in the same season. He also finished first at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, beginning his career with 34 consecutive wins to earn the No. 3-seed at the national championships.
Monn was also named to the D3Wrestle.com All-Freshman Team which is made up of wrestlers who qualified for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships and also were in high school during the 2021-22 season.
