Monn Earns 100th Win, Second All-America in Three Years

PROVIDENCE, RI - McDaniel College men's wrestling junior Thomas Monn earned his second All-America honor in the last three years on Friday, posting three wins at the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, including the 100th of his career.

Monn is just the fourth Green Terror to earn 100 career wins, joining Brock Glotfelty '11 (126), Charlie Conaway '00 (112), and Ryan O'Boyle '16 (108). Monn now owns a career record of 100-10 for a .909 winning percentage. He was 36-3 as a freshman, 31-4 as sophomore and is currently 33-3 this season.

Monn is also only the fifth in program history to earn multiple All-America honors, joining Vinny Pedalino (2000, 2001), Tony Howard (2005, 2006), Brock Glotfelty (2010, 2011), and Ryan O'Boyle (2014, 2016).

Ranked 10th nationally at 149 pounds, Monn assured himself of a top eight finish with a fall in 4:56 over Olivet's Tyler Herrema in the consolation bracket. Herrema is ranked second in Region 5. Monn can finish no lower than eighth and as high as third.

Monn began the day with a one-point loss to Brett Back of Dubuque, 7-6. Back, who entered the regional championships seeded seventh at 157 pounds, jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Monn stormed back with six consecutive points.

With over one minute in riding time, Monn could not secure another point in the final minute of the third period and suffered just his third loss of the season and first since Dec. 7.

Facing elimination, Monn responded with three consecutive wins, rebounding with a 13-0 major decision over Ohio Northern's Cael Vanderhorst who is ranked third in Region 4. Monn then posted his second consecutive major decision with a 14-6 win against Aidan Ruddy of Concordia-Moorhead.

Monn will begin the second day of the national championships against 14th-ranked Mike Conklin of TCNJ. The two have met once already this season in the Region 3 championship match where Monn was able to secure a fall in 5:28.

The match will mark the fourth career meeting between the two. Monn has claimed two wins, including this year and a 4-2 decision in the 2023 regional championships. Conklin earned a fall in 4:59 at last year's regional championships.
