McDaniel posted three innings of three runs or more in an 11-5 win at Gettysburg.
THE LEADERS
• T.J. McGuire (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) was a key part of the Green Terror offense with a pair of hits and a walk.
• Tyler Yohn (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) added three hits, including a two-run single in a four-run third inning.
FOR THE FOES
• Kyle Miller led the Bullets with three hits.
• Preston Toothman also went 3-for-4 on the afternoon.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Kyle Miller led off the bottom of the first with a single before a one-out Tristan Neels double and throwing error staked Gettysburg to an early 1-0 lead.
• Mark Seibert started the second with a double before scoring a double play for a 2-0 advantage.
• Connor Uhrig (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) walked to start the top of the third before Shane Daly (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) and Joey Hubinger (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) drew back-to-back one-out walks to load the bases. Tyler Yohn followed with a single to score two and tie the game. Austin Goudeaux (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) added a two-run double down the line for a 4-2 lead.
• Hubinger and Yohn led off the fifth with back-to-back knocks before a sacrifice and hit batter loaded the bases for Jack Bayne (Lutherville, Md./Towson), who singled up the middle to make it a 6-2 game. T.J. McGuire tacked on another run, scoring Jake Smith (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) on a single to center.
• A pair of walks around Preston Toothman single loaded the bases with one out in the home sixth. Miller singled home a run to make it 7-3.
• With the bases loaded after a walk and two singles in the eighth, Hubinger singled to push the advantage to 9-3. A Yohn single reloaded the bases for Goudeaux, who had a two-run knock to center for an 11-3 lead.
• A two-out error scored two runs in the bottom of the eight before the first two reached with singles in bottom of the ninth. Ryan Gibbons (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen), however, struck out the next three to preserve the victory.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Jack Valentine (Hockessin, Del./Sanford School) improved to 3-0 on the mound with four innings in relief.
• Joey Hubinger and Austin Goudeaux added two hits each.
