THE SKINNY
McDaniel jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game and never looked back in a 19-11 win over Washington (Md.).
THE LEADERS
• Kealey Allison (Frankford, Del./Indian River) led the Green Terror, tying the program record for goals in a game with nine. She also chipped in an assist, 10 draw controls, four caused turnovers, and four ground balls.
• Emma Miller (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) chipped in three goals, one assist, and four draw controls.
FOR THE FOES
• Colleen Keefe led the Shorewomen with five goals and two assists.
• Sydney Allender added three goals and five draw controls.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• McDaniel needed just 31 seconds to get on the scoreboard when Natalie Hoff (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) dished it to Emily Sheppard (Queenstown, Md./Queen Anne's County) for a 1-0 lead. Kealey Allison scored off a pass from Emma Legacy (Deale, Md./St. Mary's) for a 2-0 lead at the 12:45 mark before Sydney Allender responded with Washington's first goal 1:22 later. Allison and Emma Miller scored twice in a 25-second span to push the advantage to 4-1. With 7:01 remaining in the quarter, Abby Laubach found the back of the net before Allison re-established the three-goal lead with 2:35 to play in the period.
• Allison made it back-to-back markers, scoring just 16 seconds in the second. before the Shorewomen scored three of the next four to cut the deficit to 6-4 with 10:38 remaining. After Hoff and Chloe Sass traded goals, Allison scored the final two of the half to give her a season-best seven goals in just the first 30 minutes of the game, stretching the lead to 11-6 at the break.
• Two Colleen Keefe free-position goals keyed a 3-1 start to the third quarter, closing the margin to 12-9 with 4:35 remainin but Miller and Allison each finished a solo run to make it 14-9 entering the fourth quarter.
• McDaniel stretched the run to seven in a row to open up a double-digit lead with 2:56 remaining. Hoff found Miller in front of the net just 1:46 into the fourth before Acadia Noll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) connected with a player advantage. At the 4:40 mark Lara Jensen (West Chester, Pa./The Tatnall School) capitalized for her first goal of the afternoon with 4:40 remaining before Allison bettered her previous career best and matched the record 25 seconds later. She followed that up with an assist to Sheppard. Keefe scored twice in the last 1:06 to set the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• In addition to the program-record-tying nine goals the 10 draw controls for Kealey Allison were a season best.
• McDaniel finished with a 34-29 edge in shots and won the draw control battle, 20-13.
• Colleen Keefe's free position goal with 4:35 remaining was the 100th of her Washington career.
• It was the first win in the series for the Green Terror since 2010, snapping an 11-game Shorewomen winning streak.
