THE SKINNY
Franklin & Marshall hit a walkoff three-run home run in game one and built a six-run lead in game two to complete the sweep of McDaniel. The Diplomats won the opener 6-3 before completing the sweep, 8-7.
THE LEADERS
• Tyler Yohn (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) led the Green Terror with three hits.
• Billy Wheatley (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) added three hits of his own.
FOR THE FOES
• Tommy Denlinger had four hits on the afternoon to lead the Diplomats, including the game-winning three-run home run in the opener.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In game one, Austin Goudeaux (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) was hit by a pitch to start the second before moving to third on a failed pickoff attempt and scoring a Jake Smith (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
• AJ Desautels singled with two outs in the home fourth before scoring on a Bobby Falese double to tie the game. Patrick Cettina followed with a double of his own for a 2-1 lead and then scored on a Drew Butera single for a 3-1 lead.
• Tyler Yohn doubled to left with one out in the sixth before scoring on a Goudeaux single to the gap.
• After Billy Wheatly reached on a leadoff error in the ninth, pinch-runner Jarod Pezzano (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) moved to second on a sacrifice and took third on a wild pitch before scoring on a two-out Shane Daly (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) single to tie the game.
• With one out, Jakob Hoffman poked a single down the line before a walk. Tommy Denlinger followed with a walkoff home run.
• In game two, Smith singled to lead off the second before Connor Uhrig (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and T.J. McGuire (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) poked back-to-back one-out singles for a 1-0 lead.
• Three straight singles to start the home third turned the one-run deficit into a one-run lead before a Falese triple made it a 3-1 game. He then scored on an error for a 4-1 lead.
• Wheatley singled to lead off the fourth before taking second on a wild pitch and scoring on a Jack Bayne (Lutherville, Md./Towson) two-out single to make it a 4-2 game.
• Drew Butera doubled to lead off the home sixth. After two straight one-out walks, Falese blasted a grand slam for an 8-2 lead.
• Bayne was hit by a pitch with one out in the seventh then scored on a triple by Daly, who made it 8-4 when he was able to come home on a wild pitch.
• In the eighth, Smith and Wheatley each singled to lead off the inning. After a wild pitch, both were able to score on a McGuire one-out double to the gap. Bayne followed with an RBI single to make it 8-7 but Brooks Rush got a double play to get out of the inning and Thomas McLaughlin worked around a one-out hit in the ninth to close out the sweep.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Tyler Yohn and Austin Goudeaux each had two hits in game one.
• Jake Smith and Billy Wheatley had two hits each in game two.
