THE SKINNY
McDaniel jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the second game to forge a split with Ursinus, taking the nightcap 13-3 after the Bears won the opener, 4-2.
THE LEADERS
• Jack Bayne (Lutherville, Md./Towson) led the Green Terror with four hits on the afternoon.
• Shane Daly (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) contributed six total hits, including a four-hit game two.
FOR THE FOES
• Solomon Griffith led the Bears with four hits.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, a Shane Daly one-out home run in the third staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead.
• Solomon Griffith opened the bottom of the fourth with a single before stealing second and scoring on a Eric Greenwald infield single to tie the game.
• A Connor Uhrig (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) one-out home run in the fifth put the Green Terror back in front by one.
• Jordan Williams, however, led off the home half of the inning with a double before a Dylan Crammer single put runners in the corners. A wild pitch tied the game before Griffith singled home Cramer from second with one out for a 3-2 lead. With two outs, Nick Diaz singled down the line for the final margin.
• In game two, Joey Hubinger (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) sent a two-out pitch over the left-center fence to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Jack Bayne led off the second with a single up the middle before back-to-back doubles from Uhrig and Tyler Perry (Woodbridge, Va./Gar-Field) made it a 3-0 game. Daly poked a one-out single to right to score Perry and stretch the lead to 4-0.
• Matteo Falcone cut the margin to 4-1 with a one-out home run in the bottom of the inning but the Green Terror got the run right back on a Jake Smith (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) single and Bayne double.
• Tyler Yohn (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) doubled with one out in the fourth before Austin Goudeaux (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) was hit by a two-out pitch. Smith followed with a double and then scored on a Bayne single to make it 8-1.
• A Falcone walk and Crammer bases-loaded single made it 8-2 in the home half of the inning.
• Hubinger doubled in the sixth before scoring on a wild pitch before the Bears got it back on two walks and an error in the bottom of the frame. Two errors, a Daly double, and a wild pitch made it 11-3 in the seventh.
• Daly led off the ninth with a triple before back-to-back Yohn and Hubinger singles and back-to-back walks to Goudeaux and Smith set the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• As part of Shane Daly's 4-for-6 nightcap, he had two doubles and a triple.
• Tyler Yohn, Joey Hubinger, and Jake Smith all joined Jack Bayne with three hits in game two.
• McDaniel outhit Ursinus 20-8 in the second game after the Bears had the 10-6 edge in game one.
• Ryan Gibbons (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) capped a solid day on the mound from Green Terror pitching with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out the side.
