Salem State scored eight runs in the final three innings to top McDaniel 10-6 at the Ripken Spring Break Experience.
THE LEADERS
• Tyler Yohn (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) led the Green Terror with three hits and three RBIs.
FOR THE FOES
• Zachary Piroh led the Vikings with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
• Jack Sefrino and Jake Boucher also had three hits each.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• A Jake Boucher double, wild pitch, and Traverse Briana RBI ground out staked Salem to a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
• Singles from Boucher and Sefrino doubled the lead in the top of the fifth.
• T.J. McGuire (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and Jarod Pezzano (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) led off the home fifth with back-to-back singles. An Austin Goudeaux (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) one-out single scored McGuire before a Yohn triple made it a 3-2 game. Jake Smith (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) followed with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4-2.
• Three straight hits in the seventh, including a Sefrino double keyed a four-run frame for the Vikings for a 6-4 lead.
• McDaniel got one run back on a Smith double and Billy Wheatley (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) two-out single.
• Three straight two-out singles in the eight stretched the lead to 8-5 before a two-out two-run home run from Zachary Piroh made it a 10-5 game.
• An error and Yohn double set the final margin in the bottom of the ninth.

• Jarod Pezzano and Austin Goudeaux each had two hits.
