THE REST OF THE STORY
• Emma Miller finished a solo run just 3:23 into the game to stake McDaniel to an early 1-0 lead. An Acadia Noll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) free-position tally 46 seconds later doubled the advantage. A Kealey Allison tally and back-to-back Abby Blankenship (Urbanna, Va./Christchurch) markers in a 1-minute, 24-second stretch made it a 5-0 game with 23:19 to play. Gaby Kohr (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Miller had the feed on the two Blankenship goals. Miller then added a pair of free-position goals just over a minute apart for the early 7-0 lead.
• Two goals and an assist from Greta Holt keyed a 4-1 run that closed the deficit to 8-4 midway through the opening half. Allison and Blankenship each capped their hat tricks 75 seconds apart to stretch the lead back to 10-4 with 11:53 on the clock. Dickinson, however, scored three of the final four goals of the opening half to make it an 11-7 game at the intermission.
• Hayen Posencheg and Mack Mauer scored a minute apart to close the margin to two before three minutes had elapsed in the second half. Noll connected on an 8-meter shot with 25:58 showing before Mauer and Laurie Travaglini netted unassisted tallies 51 seconds apart to make it a 12-11 game with 22:57 remaining. Two goals from Allison stretched the lead back to three, though, with 17:45 showing. Maurer found Katherine Kerin to make it 16-14 with 7:46 to play but a Miller free-position shot and Blankenship-to-Emily Sheppard (Queenstown, Md./Queen Anne's County) goal in the final 4:45 sealed the victory.
