Franklin & Marshall, ranked No. 1 in the latest IWLCA coaches' poll, raced out to a 14-1 halftime lead en route to a 16-5 win.
THE LEADERS
• Kealey Allison (Frankford, Del./Indian River) led the Green Terror with two goals, an assist, six ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
FOR THE FOES
• Ally Marino led the Diplomats with four goals and two assists.
• Kate McLam had two goals and three assists.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Maisie O'Shea opened the scoring with an unassisted tally 6:27 into the game, sparking a five-goal burst in 3 minutes, 23-seconds. Sarah Delaney had two goals in the run. Two Marissa McGarrey tallies stretched the lead to 7-0 before Nancy Taylor and Ally Marino made it 9-0 with 14:16 to play in the opening half. Kealey Allison got McDaniel on the board off a Natalie Hoff (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) assist with 13:35 showing. Five different Diplomats stretched the lead to 14-1 at the break.
• Two Marino goals in a 3-minute, 42-second stretch pushed the lead to 16-1 with 17:59 remaining. Allison found the back of the net with 15:07 on the clock then hit Kendall Gracie (St. Johns, Fla./Creekside) three minutes later. Lara Jensen (West Chester, Pa./The Tatnall School and Emma Miller (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) rounded out the scoring in the final 7:40.
THE INSIDE STORY
• The contest was considered a non-conference games. The Diplomats and Green Terror will still meet in their regularly-scheduled Centennial Conference game on Apr. 10 in Lancaster.
• Emma Miller had four draw controls in her collegiate debut.
• Kendall Gracie, Natalie Hoff, and Emma Miller both registered their first collegiate points in the contest.
