Hegna notches three victories in win

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel won six events, including the final relay to secure a 45-41 win over Washington (Md.) in the dual-meet finale.

THE LEADERS
• Sara Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) led the Green Terror with individual wins in the 50 free (24.61 seconds) and 100 back (59.85). She also led off the 400 free relay, which posted a time of 3:43.90 to win by nearly two seconds and clinch the meet. Hegna staked McDaniel to a lead after the first 100 meters that her teammates did not relinquish.
Blair Boyle (Springfield, N.J./Villa Walsh Academy) anchored the 400 free relay to the win. She also posted individual victories in the 200 IM (2:18.96) and 500 free (5:38.13).
Ella Tomkins (Matarangi, New Zealand/Mercury Bay) rounded out the individual winners, touching first in the 100 free (56.72). She was also part of the winning relay.
• Hannah Cehelsky (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury Regional) joined Hegna, Tomkins and Boyle on the winning relay.

FOR THE FOES
• Alexa Luecke touched first in the 100 fly (1:02.67) and 100 breast (1:12.38) to lead the Shorewomen.
• Teresa Draves added a win in the 200 free (2:02.76).
• Savannah Quade, Emily Homer and Allison Gallagher joined Luecke to lead off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:58.32).

THE REST OF THE STORY
Hannah Cehelsky added a second-place finish in the 200 free (2:03.63). She was also third in the 100 free (58.76).
• Megan Gorsuch (Freeland, Md./Hereford) second in the 100 breast (1:16.63) and third in the 100 fly (1:05.79).
• Ella Tomkins added a second-place showing in the 50 free (26.30 seconds).
Ashley Farrington was third in the 200 free (2:08.25) and 500 free (5:49.36).

THE INSIDE STORY
• The 400 free relay time of 3:43.90 ranks ninth in program history.
Blair Boyle's winning time in the 200 IM was a personal best as was Ella Tomkins' winning time in the 100 free (56.72).
Ashley Farrington's times in the 200 free and 500 free were both personal-best marks.
• Anna Petebrink turned in a personal-best time of 1:12.00 in the 100 back.
Emma Lindell posted a personal-best time of 1:17.00 in the 100 breast.

McDaniel returns to action at the Centennial Conference Championship hosted by Gettysburg on Feb. 20-23.
