Hegna places fourth in 200 back

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel had three individuals finish in the top eight to help the Green Terror to a sixth-place finish at the 2020 Centennial Conference championship meet hosted by Gettysburg.

THE LEADERS
• Sara Hegna (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) qualified for the A-Finals of the 50 free on Friday with a time of 24.40 seconds to rank sixth. In the finals, she posted a time of 24.59 seconds to place eighth. Her prelims time ranks third in program history. On Saturday morning, she posted the ninth-fastest time in the 100 backstroke to earn a spot in the B-Finals. She won the B-Finals to place ninth with a time of 59.65 seconds, which ranks third in program history. On Sunday, she qualified fourth in the 200 back (2:09.34) before turning in a time of 2:09.07 in the A-Finals to finish fourth. The time is second in program history.
• Blair Boyle (Springfield, N.J./Villa Walsh Academy) qualified for the A-Finals in the 200 free on Saturday with a time of 1:57.52. In the finals, she finished eighth with a time of 1:59.29. She also qualified for the B-Finals of the 50 free with a time of 24.58 seconds before placing 12th with a time of 24.63 seconds in the evening session. On Sunday, she qualified 11th in the 100 free with a time of 54.14 seconds. She then posted the best time of the B-Finals to place ninth with her time of 53.81 seconds.
• On Saturday, Ella Tomkins (Matarangi, New Zealand/Mercury Bay) posted a time of 59.92 seconds in the 100 butterfly to qualify for the B-Finals with the ninth-fastest prelims time. In the finals, she turned in a time of 59.75 seconds, which ranks third in program history. On Sunday, she turned in the No. 2 time in program history in the prelims, qualifying eighth with a time of 2:14.20 in the 200 butterfly. In the A-Finals, she placed sixth with a time of 2:14.50.
• On Friday, Hannah Cehelsky (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln Sudbury Regional) qualified for the B-Finals with a time of 5:23.61 before bettering that time in the finals for a 13th-place finish with a personal-best time of 5:23.26. She was also 18th in the 200 free with a personal-best time of 2:02.01. On Sunday, she was 10th in the 1650 free with a time of 19:08.76, which ranks ninth in program history.

FOR THE FOES
• The Green Terror finished with 251 points.
• Gettysburg won the team title with 887.5 points, edging Swarthmore by 30.5 points in the seven-team championship.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Ashley Farrington was 11th in the 1650 free with a personal-best time of 20:00.58.
• The 200 medley relay of Sara Hegna, Megan Gorsuch, Ella Tomkins and Blair Boyle finished fourth on Thursday night with a time of 1:53.16, which ranks 10th in program history.
• Also on Thursday, the 800 free relay of Hegna, Hannah Cehelsky, Tomkins and Boyle placed fourth with a time of 7:58.99, which ranks third in program history.
• On Saturday, the 200 free relay of Hegna, Tomkins, Ashley Farrington and Boyle finished fifth with a time of 1:41.18, which ranks ninth in program history.
• On Sunday, the 400 free relay of Hegna, Cehelsky, Tomkins and Boyle finished fifth with a time of 3:40.45, which ranks sixth in program history.
• The 400 medley relay of Anna Petenbrink, Megan Gorsuch, Emma Lindell and Farrington placed sixth on Friday with a time of 4:36.54.

THE INSIDE STORY
• The 200 medley relay B-relay of Anna Petenbrink, Emma Lindell, Laura Midkiff and Ashley Farrington was 14th (2:11.20).
• The 200 free relay B-relay of Megan Gorsuch, Hannah Cehelsky, Lindell and Midkiff was 15th (1:49.44).
Ashley Farrington was 18th in the 500 free with a personal-best time of 5:40.31. She was also 24th in the 200 free with a personal-best time of 2:05.19.
• Emma Lindell finished 20th in the 500 free with a personal-best time of 5:51.38. She was 26th in the 100 fly with a personal-best time of 1:08.55. She was also 20th in the 200 fly with a personal-best time of 2:35.74.
Megan Gorsuch was 23th in the 200 IM with a personal-best time of 2:22.37. She was also 22nd in the 100 fly with a personal-best time of 1:03.69. She was also 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.33).
Ella Tomkins placed 32nd in the 50 free with a personal-best time of 25.88 seconds.
Anna Petenbrink was 24th in the 100 back (1:15.81). She was also 21st in the 200 back with a personal-best time of 2:43.58.
• Laura Midkiff placed 26th in the 100 back with a personal-best time of 1:18.83. She was also 34th in the 100 free with a personal-best time of 1:04.98.
