Allison tallies two goals in opener

THE SKINNY STORY
St. Mary's (Md.) scored seven of the final eight goals of the first half to turn a 3-2 edge into a 10-3 halftime lead then netted the final six tallies for a 16-5 win.

THE LEADERS
• Kealey Allison (Frankford, Del./Indian River) led the Green Terror with two goals, two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
• Acadia Noll (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the defense with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls.

FOR THE FOES
• Kate Bartholomew led the Seahawks with six goals and three assists.
• Lucy Gussion chipped in four goals and two assists.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Lucy Gussio found Kelly Emge just 1:49 into the game for a 1-0 St. Mary's lead. Gussio then finished a solo run to double the lead 34 seconds later. Kealey Allison finished a feed from Emily Sheppard (Queenstown, Md./Queen Anne's County) with 27:01 on the clock to cut the deficit in half. Kate Bartholomew and Tori Arcilesi (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) traded unassisted goals less than a minute apart to make it a 3-2 game with 22:55 remaining. Bartholomew then found Erin Piper just 17 seconds after the ensuing draw for a 4-2 lead and sparked the game-changing 6-1 run. Bartholomew had two goals and two assists in the run. Lara Jensen (West Chester, Pa./The Tatnall School) had the lone McDaniel tally in the stretch, finishing an unassisted goal with 7:32 showing.
• Allison connected on a free-position tally with 23:27 to play in the second half to make it a 10-4 game before Sheppard found Sarah Hunter (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) for the freshman's first goal with 22:41 to play, cutting the margin to 10-5. Two Nancy Slaughter goals in a 44-second span sparked the game-closing 6-0 run. Bartholomew and Gussio each had two markers in the final 11:49.

THE INSIDE STORY
Emily Sheppard registered her first two collegiate assists in the game in addition to Sarah Hunter's first college goal.

McDaniel returns to action at home Shenandoah on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
